I have moved and danced for most of my life, and have been passionate about dance, yoga, therapeutic somatic movement and healing for as long as I can remember until now.
I have studied with yoga teachers Donna Farhi, Marcia Monroe and am currently finishing off my yoga teacher training through the Shin Somatics course taught by Wilhemeena Monroe and Sondra Fraleigh via EastWest Somatics Institute.
I have been studying Shin Somatics - therapeutic somatic dance/movement, yoga and body work for the last 8 years. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Expressive Therapies AUT. I also have studied with respected teachers in the Dance Movement Therapy sphere - Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and through Dance Therapy NZ and Creative Therapies Association Aotearoa. I have gained experiential knowledge through a wide variety of creative dance workshops and integrated body-mind-soul healing workshops for over 15 years including the 5 Rhythms dance practice and African dance.
My meditation inspiration is from the mindfulness teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn - a Vietnamese Buddhist monk. A meditation practice I used to help facilitate with groups.
I love nourishing myself and my family with healthy nutritious food and work part time at Harvest Wholefoods. I currently teach two African-Inspired community dance classes in Titirangi and Grey Lynn. I am a relief teacher for Shin yoga at SOUL. Also I am part time studying Dance Movement Therapy and Shin Somatics, and mainly a full time mother to my dear 4 year old son.
